What is a barista?

A barista is a professional “coffee chef”, who has been trained in the craft of preparing coffee and possesses the ability to serve the public. The modern barista is someone who has passion for coffee and espresso, and has fun preparing the perfect cup. These newcomers challenge themselves doing an excellent job daily, preparing an exceptional cup for each of their customers. They learn about blends, roasting and they know exactly how the coffee should taste. They are proud to serve a perfect espresso! From the twenty pairs of hands that coffee must touch from the seed to the cup, the barista is the last and most important, who serves the coffee to the customer for his enjoyment.

The Coopedota coffee shop was inaugurated in 2006, with the intention of completing the coffee commercialization chain and act as a pioneering company in coffee cooperatives. The main goal is to offer a place where the cooperative can make known the coffee that is produced here on a local level, and also create a “façade”, so that Coopedota can stand out with a different and distinguished establishment. This is so that our visitors, tourists and producers can have the opportunity to enjoy a professionally prepared cup of coffee, by international barismo standards. By means of Café Privilegios, we have been able to demonstrate to our producers what is done internationally with our coffee. Likewise, our coffee shops objective is to educate our community about gourmet coffee, and touch the tip of the vast field of barismo. We have a locale that meets the quality standards in every aspect: the atmosphere, the service and the product. So far, no coffee shop chain has the intrinsic advantage of total traceability like Coopedota does, from the plant to the cup, all in one place.
